Grow-Dome Press Release The Grow-Dome is a grow-ing success! A new, eco-friendly geodesic dome named “Grow-Dome” is being launched and manufactured in the UK. These Eden Project-style structures are greener, stronger and funkier than traditional greenhouses. Richard Sutton of Greenhouses UK, said ‘There has been considerable interest in these amazing structures, particularly with the success of the Eden Project, and Grow-Dome have come up with some great designs.’ The huge popularity for growing-your-own fruit and veg has led to the Grow-Dome being featured in a BBC 2 programme, currently being filmed in Cornwall. ‘Not only can these domes be used as greenhouses but also as hot tub and garden rooms - even play houses for the children.’ comments Simon Britten of Grow-Dome. Because of their geodesic design; light comes from all angles; creating maximum efficiency for cultivating plants. The frame is also one of the strongest shapes known to man. The wood-framed structure will initially be glazed with poly-film and have a diameter of 4.8m; costing approx £2,000. This creates a growing space of 18.1 metres; which is the equivalent of a 6ft x 32ft greenhouse. Looking to the future, there are plans to expand the range, showcasing different sizes and glazing materials. ‘Each Grow-Dome comes with 40Kg of free tomatoes (2 seed packets – just add soil, water and time)’ Simon enthuses. |
